How to Apply for Admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN)

Applying for admission into the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) is a simple online process. Whether you are applying for an undergraduate or postgraduate programme, you can complete your application through the university’s admission portal.

This guide explains the step-by-step process of applying for admission into NOUN successfully.

Step 1: Visit the NOUN Admission Portal

To begin your application, visit the official NOUN admission portal at nouonline.nou.edu.ng.

Once the homepage loads, navigate to the Menu Bar and click on “Apply for Admission.”

Step 2: Select Your Preferred Programme

You will be required to choose the type of programme you want to apply for.

Select either:

• Undergraduate Programme, or
• Postgraduate Programme

Please note that other programmes may not be available at the moment.

Step 3: Choose Your Faculty

On the left-hand side of the screen, locate the “Choose Faculty” section.

Select your preferred faculty and proceed to fill in the displayed form.

Before continuing, you can click below the page to view the admission criteria for your chosen programme.

Once you have confirmed your eligibility, click “Apply” to continue.

Step 4: Take Note of Your Unique ID

After clicking Apply, a Unique ID will be generated and displayed on your screen.

Make sure you copy or save this ID carefully, as you will need it later to continue your application.

Then, click the “Continue” button.

Step 5: Make Payment

Choose Bank Branch as your payment method.

Next, click “Pay.”

An RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) Number will be generated for you. Copy the RRR number and take it to any bank branch to make payment.

Step 6: Continue Your Application After Payment

After making payment, return to the NOUN admission portal and repeat Steps 1 to 3.

Then click on “Continue After Payment.”

You will be asked to provide:

• Your Unique ID
• Your RRR Number
• Your Programme

Click “Proceed” to continue.

Step 7: Complete the Application Form

Fill in the application form carefully.

Ensure that all fields marked with a red star (*) are completed, as they are compulsory.

Double-check your details before proceeding to avoid mistakes.

Step 8: Submit and Print Your Admission Letter

After filling out the form:

1. Click “Submit”
2. Print your Admission Letter

Step 9: Visit a Study Centre for Screening

Finally, visit the nearest NOUN Study Centre for screening and further admission processing.
